Texas mobile home insurance is available from several good companies. The cost depends on many factors. Listed below is a quote that I did for a single wide home north of Houston in a park.
- $40,000 Dwelling coverage with $950 deductible
- $1,000 other structures
- $16,000 Personal Property
- $100,000 Personal Liability
- $1,000 Medical Payments To Others
This policy was $562 per year. Most policies cover fire, theft, windstorm, hail, explosion, falling objects, and bursting of water pipes. Liability coverage may be optional or included in a package. Some policies will offer options for the amount of deductible, replacement cost for personal property, jewelry coverage, firearm coverage, and other options.
Because all policies are not alike it is not always best to just get the least expensive policy. Ask you agent to explain the coverage options and consider what you are getting for what you are paying.
Here are some suggestions for getting a good policy:
Be sure to get a high enough limit for the dwelling, consider what a new home would cost at today's prices if your home was destroyed.
Get personal property coverage with a high enough limit and ask for replacement cost valuation.
I suggest $100,000 in liability coverage or greater. This is inexpensive. On the quote example the client paid $5 per year to increase from $50,000 to $100,000.
If a package is available it will probably be a better value.
Remember that flood is not included and consider a separate policy for that.
Deal with an experienced agent and have everything explained.
